Thinking About Buying an Audi A4

Thinking About Buying an Audi A4
I'm a college student and I love Audis. Since I support myself and don't get any outside assistance, they have been beyond my budget.
But I just ran across a 1999 2.8 A4 that is immaculate inside and out.
However, the car has 225K miles on it. It is a manual, which is what I prefer. The car obviously has been very well maintained, but it has high miles nevertheless.
Accoridng to Kelly Blue book, this car is worth about $7500 with the high miles. I could get it for $5000.
My question is, is this a good buy or what? I know Audi parts are expensive, but this car just looks so sweet. It looks like a car with 30K miles on it. I know looks can be deceiving, but I just wanted to get some opinions from you experienced Audi drivers.
What do you guys think? Is this a buy or should I pass??
Thanks in advance!!

RE: Thinking About Buying an Audi A4
although SOME 2.8's are rumored to last 'till 300,000 miles, there is definately the chance that this car will be like others and maybe even fly by the 300,000 mile mark...From the sounds of things you shouldn't take that risk!...I am in the same shoes, I just bought a A4 1.8tqm with 87,000 miles, and all service documents...It cost me 6,500$...but the peace of mind in knowing that I have a car that DEFINATELY has a long life ahead of it is worth another 1,500$... My opinion is the same as everyone elses, I think I would pay maybe 3K for that car.....keep your eyes out and you will definately findlow mileage, clean A4's in your price range....Keep in ming that if a timing belt hasn't been done and you are not a DIY guy, I have had quotes of 700-1,300$...make sure that whatever you buy has all service documents (at least the current major ones)
good luck!

lol i wouldnt say too risky i have one with at least 425k the odom stoped there and its still goin and one that around 300k and no probs
ORIGINAL: Amze
I'd definitly try to find a car with 150k miles or less... 250 on a audi is just to risky.

heres the thing if you can talk him down to 3500 or below its probably worth it, both my audis had over 140k miles and still ran better than my honda which had 90k. the main thing is that there are over 200k miles which is just a ton, you dont know what it been through, so if you can talk him down go for it, otherwise better you just find something with less miles. try finding a 1996 a4 quattro, their cheap, the 12v v6 is relable and its not too hard to find a quattro with a manual.
