thumping noise
When i drove home from vermont on saturday there was a decient section that dropped becuase they were paving a section of highway and now when ever i turn left i hear a thumping noise it increases as the speed does and im clueless to what it is. It doesnt sound good so i am hesitant to drive my car but i have to get to work and such so is it very bad to keep driving my car?
EDIT: Just drove to the supermarket and it sounds like a fluttering thumping noise that is speed dependent on how fast it flutters and thumps Thank you for the responses and your time |
RE: thumping noise
Anyone with any thoughts i want to know if its ok to drive to work which is about a 40 min drive from my house

RE: thumping noise
Get under your car and check to see if your front cv boots are torn, when the joints get dry they can make that noise.

RE: thumping noise
the boots seem to be fine is it ok to drive to my work tomarrow?
|
RE: thumping noise
If its getting louder the faster you go its probably either the cv axle or wheel bearing, so if your only driving a few miles you'll be ok, just try to limit how far you drive because the farther you go the more friction its exposed to the hotter it gets.

RE: thumping noise
Sure...I dont think anyone has ever died driving their car to work when itsmaking a thumping noise when turning left. Does it do this at all speeds or mainly speeds bellow 20mph when making tight turns?
|
RE: thumping noise
it makes the noise when turing left at all speeds above 5mph and it gets louder as i turn harder..also i have to drive 30 miles to work soo i would be driving 60 miles a day

RE: thumping noise
I would park it then, probably gonna end up stranded.

RE: thumping noise
Can you just hear it or can you feel it too?
