Time comparison with / out Revo Demo
OK, I took the car the my local dealer today to have them take a look at the mis-fire code the computer threw out when the Revo demo program was installed. After a short while the dealer said they could not find anything, I was pretty persistent about the performance and the gas mileage of the car and asked the dealer that even though the computer did not throw out a code this time but I asked them to take it for a ride and compare it to another A4 on the lot.
About an hour later they called me back and told me an oil line used to cool the turbo was leaking. He also mentioned that the turbo normally runs at 100% and mine was running at 148%. He didn't really give me any specifics about possible causes and repairs, but that he will call me tomorrow with more info. Can anyone give me any more information on the turbo and the cooling specifics, and how this would relate to my poor performance (10 seconds to 0-60mph)?
Thanks
Dom

if you had not gotten this checked (and do not get this fixed) you will kill your turbo.
the turbo likes cold ari for more air mass density. Your turbo was not being cooled efficiently, so it was heating up the air as it hit the turbo. You were running at 148% cuz of the Revo, but thats not telling you your turbo is better than normal.
get the oil line fixed to keep the heat soak issues and your performance will improve

I got it checked and the dealer should be fixing this problem, the car is still under warranty. The service rep said he would have to talk to his Feild Opperations Manager to see how he want to fix the issue rebuild or replace from what I understand. I left the car there, I did not want to chance it and have something else break. If the reason the turbo was running at 148% is that ok for the turbo as far as reliability? Also I assume the dealer notice the the turbo running at 148% because this was a demo and there was no way for me to change the mode back to the stock settings? But the demo only lasts 5 hours, it should have been times out by now.
Not too sure what it means for a turbo to run at 148% but if it just means that its working 48% harder than it normally does coming from the factory, then that's just like having a chipped ECU. Reliability of such a turbo depends on the care you give it. Proper warm up and cool down are necessary to insure the longevity of the turbo. In a situation where you are having cooling issues, the reliability of your turbo will significantly decrease. However, it sounds like you're having that problem fixed so just be sure that you are warming up and cooling down properly.

148% is fine. The K03 has been detuned for the A4 anyway. Or should I say the A4 is not tuned to take full advantage of the K03 because it needs to meet all worldwide climactic and altitude situations, as well as keeping warranty work to an acceptable level.
BTW - I blew a turbo on my 1998.5 A4 (unchipped) because the oil lines coked up and oil was not getting to the turbo to cool it. The bearing self destructs over time because of this.

Well after much waiting, the dealer is going to replace the turbo because it is leaking oil. Not sure when it will be repaired, (parts already ordered) but I hope it fixes the problem of my A4 and it's lack of acceleration from 0-60mph (10.0 sec).
