do you think it's a simple enough job to have my local mechanic do? the audi dealer wants 1500$ for it, and thats a rip. Also, the autotech teacher at our school (30+ yrs of experience) said he would do it for free as a demonstration to the class if I pay for parts. Should i trust them with my car?

or go get raped by the audi dealer

Well if your shop teacher has the knowledge and has done a Tbelt change, let him. If you don't want him to do it, skip the dealer and take it to an idependant mechanic.

Have you guys ever heard of Eurotech>????

Supposidly it's some popular European Mechanic here in atlanta. They seem pretty popular, we got there number by some guy in a 350hp GTI that stopped my dad when he was driving my car and told him how much he liked it, and that Eurotech was the place to go for tuning

let your tech teacher do it, it isnt too hard of a task especially for an experienced mechanic, I did mine and I only have about 4 years experience.

yeah it doesnt take an audi tech to do if you want you can print him out one of the several DIY articles in circulation for your own peice of mind and from there any self respecting wrench monkey can handle it or die from humiliation if he cant.
