timing belt
I thought 98's were 30 valve 2.8's...
This is for the A6... but still a 2.8. Not sure if there are any differences, but there likely are some... should be able to find a write up for your car though.

Theprez25, I had mine done by Rick at
www.cimmotorsports.net
He supplies the parts, Conti-Tech belts
You can make an appointment and watch him do the job.
He charges around $750.

You should be able to find a mechanic that will do it for around 650. What you'll need are these , unless your friend is an expert mechanic don't try to remove the timing belt without them. I was in CT yesterday and met this guy whos an audi tech, he offered to change mine for 250, if I had more free time I'd do it myself but this is a good deal.
