Default timing belt...broken?

So I dont know if the belt is broken or not, but it has hit almost 90k miles. I pulled it into the garage saturday after i washed it. drove around my other car all weekend. i just now tried to pull it out of the garage and it wouldnt start. i have power all the lights come on, but it just wont start, it tries but nothing.....any suggestions? its not making any crazy noises or anything, which is what i would expect if the belt broke....agh! such bad timing.....

Dont know why you went strait for the TB since it wouldnt brake sitting in a garage. You really should start of testing the battery, alternator and starter first. Pep boys and Auto Zone both will do it for free

pop the little clips off the top of the timing belt cover on the front of the engine, and shine a flashlight down and see if there is still a timing belt there

The car "should" start if the belt is broken but once it starts the valves will be toast. Even if it's not broken and just slipped the timing would be off and just turning it over would mess up the valves. I'm almost 100% sure it's something else, but at 90k your just playing russian roulette. Mine went to 112k but thats only because we thought it was changed and really wasn't.

the only reason i said timing belt was because i have had this on going fear its going to snap ever since i read someones post a couple weeks ago about them having to sell there car because of it. i have power, everything turns on, all lights dash lights everything so thats why i didnt think it was the battery. this might be stupid but i did just change the battery in the remote and i had to reset the key for it to work....i dont know its never done anything like this before.

Take it to the parts store and have them test the starter.

major corrosion around the battery cable, this has to be it....is it not a good idea to disconnect the battery to clean the cable? i dont want anything crazy to happen, my haynes manual has all these warnings about disconnecting the battery. would it be safe to try and clean it while it is still connected??

your fine disconnecting the battery. Just remove the cables and spray it with some appropriate cleaner and scrub it with a wire brush.
