Timing belt replacement 2000 1.8T

OK, I'm confused. Recently purchased a 2000 1.8T quattra with 78K miles. The suggested interval for replacing the timing belt in my manual is 120K miles, but as I read, many people appear to be replacing at 60,000 miles.

What does the group suggest? This is the first interference engine I've owned.

60,000 for sure. Much better safe than sorry with that. I've got a 2000 Avant quattro with 115,000 and I did the timing belt/water pump at 60,000 and again at 114,000. Welcome to the forum.

90k was what my manuel said but due to the fact that they dont last till 90k its now recomended that you do it at 60k...better safe than stuck on the side of the road with a 3200lb paper weight;)
