Default TIPTRONIC not working

I was driving today and i was using my tiptronic and then i switched back to Drive and then at a stop sign i switched back to tip but my car didnt shift into the tip mode... It would be in the secondary spot with the arrows for shifting but stay in automatic shift mode... Has this ever happened to your b5 a4? It wouldnt go back to tip mode even after i turned the car off...

check the fuses, it was a common fail on the Saab 900 and the Alfa 156 which had solenoid problems

Check thy fuses, as Avant pointed out. Your fuse panel is located on the drivers side of the dash console, right next to your drivers side door. The panel just pops out, and you can probably find a diagram of what each fuse controls online...the fuse descriptions can definitely be found in any Hanyes repair manual (always a good investment).

Pull the fuse out. Take a close look in the middle section. If the metal is in one piece, it's good. If not, it's bad.

Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes.

Make sure you have your stereo code first.

Then drive it for 40 miles to get ecu back to normal.
