Tubro Question.

Okasy. i am looking at turbo upgrades for my 1.8t 01 qm. my question is why would i go with the APR stage 3 for like 4.5k when i could go with ATP, spend like 1.6k, and go to an AWD dyno and get it tuned?

I know the APR comes with headers and such, but they can both pull the same amount of crank HP do how do the headers help that? DO they give a broader powerband?

RE: Tubro Question.

Finding good tuning for a dbw 2001 is a pita if you dont go with apr for that kind of power. Tuning for dbw w/k04 is not so difficult and is what most people upgrade to if they have dbw. Plus DBW engines (ATW+) internals can barely handle anything close to 300hp. Like i said in another post, i think the Pre ATW motors (AEB) have forged internals and are best for the power you need unless you upgrade the internals. Thats why 99.5 is the best yr for BT tuning. 2000+ styling/looks w/ndbw and forged(?) internals. Had I known all this when i purchased, i would have gone with a 99.5.

APR is tuned perfectly (well nothings perfecT) and they give you everything you need.

you pay more just for the APR name.

Unitronics is putting out a better BT file for dbw's now , so that may be an option.

there are many dbw BT's running WELL over 300hp no problem (crank wise)

Im guessing most ATW's w/ BT's are running in the 275-290whp range (350-375bhp) w/ the ATP turbos...

no one has popped a motor yet... YET

If you do your clutch make sure you get enough grabbing power for your future upgrades...

I recommend Stage 4 Southbend for t28/gt28r or greater

RE: Tubro Question.

I was planning on going with something from 2bennet racing (a shot relativly near me)

i need to find out mroe abotu it tho...its a 9 lb flywheel (s that a little light). all i know about the clutch is that it is less like a car clutch and more like a motorcycle clutch where it has multiple clutch plates. ill find out more abotu it.

if i got the bt i would need a clutch anyway and i dont have the bank for both...
