Vavle cover gaskets
I recently replaced the vavle cover gaskets and this was a simple procedure.
I noticed another person asking about this question and wanted to share my story.
Prior to replacing the valve cover gaskets, oil was dripping on my starter and the starter was slipping.
When this happened I went to PepBoys auto - and was told I should replace the starter, even though the mechanic checked the starter
at the moment and was working -
Pepboys replaced the starter, and adapted the Bendix - this was the wrong procedure and just turning on the car, one could tell the difference in noice ( I belive the part was a Wesley Starter).
Of course after complaining to PepBoys and paying 4 hours of labor, the part was replaced with a used (remaunf.) bosch starter.
Now, I am once again, trying to convince the Pepboys auto, to do what is right and replace the starter with a new (remanuf.) bosch starter.
The Starter is not known as a part that generally needs replacement - had I changed the vavle cover gaskets prior to listening
to a mechanic that is use to working on American cars, I would not be writing this quick story.
Wish I could find a decent, honest mechanic fro my Audi - the dealership will not pay attention to me, unless I am driving a new Audi,
even then the cost to fix anything is way over board.
Tough lesson.
Happy new year to all - and thanks for reading my story and being able to speak about my Audi and the subsequent complications one encounters.
