Default What coolant are you using?

If you aren't using Audi coolant on your A4, what coolant are you using.

Reason I ask, is because I have a coolant leak on my upper radiator hose on my b6. I have had to buy 2 gallons of Audi G12 coolant now. I just need to get the hose from Audi, I know, but it's on its' way.

Is it ok to add another coolant to the G12/Water mix that is already in there to top off the reservoir tank?

I don't see why it would make difference what coolant your using, in the end coolant is coolant regardless of brand.

After I did my timing belt i used water only(no cooant) for a few days with no issues and have since put in generic coolant(auto zone) I havent noticed any difference in temp between just water, generic or audi coolant. Maybe longterm its slighlty better. idunno

If its not very low im sure u can just add water and be fine. I think the mixture should be 30-50% water/coolant but im not sure if u can mix coolants but prolly so.

i'm pretty sure you're not supposed to mix the g12 coolant with any other kind of coolant. at least thats what the bentley manual says. in fact i believe the g12 changes color from red to brown when another kind of coolant is mixed with it. mixing it might not do anything tho and they're just ****.

Use a 50/50 mix of G12 and distilled water.

Hi,
not to more use not G12. Use G12plus which is "filled-for-live" solution.

Coolant is actualy not coolant regardless of brand. I have seen ppl mic regular green coolant with g12 and it turns into jelly... I use generic green stuff now

I've just been getting sick of buying gallons of G12 for $20 a pop. I might see if I can just get a small bottle of G12+ and add it in there.

If you flush your suatem you can use your choice. Dex cool does work you just have to do a regular flush. There is some mix with anything coolants out there. But do not mix with g12. It does turn into jelly. Same as mixing the common green with dex cool its not a good outcome

I will probably just stick with G12. Unless I have to take the radiator off again. Then I think I'm going with dex cool to save a few bucks.
