WHAT? H&R sport springs RAISE car?

I just got my Bilstein struts and H&R sport springs on friday, now I am hearing that the sport springs don't lower your car and may actually RAISE it???!!

This cannot be true, is it?

who told you this?...I am almost posative that the sports drop 1.25 front and 1.0 rear....I don't think they make any springs that'll raise your stock ride height....I am pretty sure you are worried about nothing....gl!

Can't really do that becuase I bought them used from a guy on AW. He had this combo on his S4. But this is where I am hearing this, read the whole thread:

becuase the s4 is heavier then the a4. so the springs are stiffer. therefore your car will be higher then it would it if they were on teh s4. becuase you dont have as much weight to compress them

RE: WHAT? H&R sport springs RAISE car?

On the box it says for B5 S4 A4.

On AWE for A4 it will lower 1.25/f and 1.0/r

For the S4 it says 1.75/f and 1.5/r

So I am guessing that they give you the same spring it just lowers more on the S4 cuz it is heavier. But still it SHOULD lower my car 1.25 in the front and 1.0 in the back right?

you were miss reading. he already has the sport suspension and from the sound of it he just wanted to get sport springs which wouldnt do anything to his car. its like replacing studded winter tires with winter tires, there isnt that much of a differnece if anything you will lose some traction. do you understand?[&:]

What was the part # on the H&R springs? Just from going to AWEtuning.com and looking at a 1.8t VS. S4 H&R spings I got this info
A4 Sport(quattro) = #50396
A4 Sport (FWD) = #29989-1
S4 Sport = #29477

So if you purchased a set of springs from a guy who had an S4.......you would not have the correct part # for your car.
Best thing for you to do now is buy then correct set and sell the ones you've go. If they are in fact incorrect.

RE: WHAT? H&R sport springs RAISE car?

They say 29477 on them. But on the box they say they are for A4 or S4. PLUS before I bought them everyone on here was telling me that they would work on my car. I don't know why they would be different, the B5 S4 and A4 have pretty much the exact same chassis, correct?

RE: WHAT? H&R sport springs RAISE car?

I can't tell you the difference between the two - only there in enough difference between them for H&R to make two seperate PN's for them - steel might be different - spring rate - the way the steel is affected by the radiation from the sun. just because the outside of the car is the same in no way means that everything that is "similar" to the other will work. Always double and tripple check your PN before you ever buy any parts
