what should i feel with my new giac
hi i just put a new giac chip in a 01 1.8 and drove it for a straight hour and felt no change. am i doing something wrong or does it take longer to adjust than an hour. its the 93 octane with the newest up to date program with the fuzzy logic so it adjust from 93 to 87 octane
1. I'll assume you boutght this direct and not second hand.
2. Did you allow the MAF to reset before driving?
3. Are you using the stock diverter valve, or have you changed it?
4. Are you sure the program is engaged (re-read the instructions?) Did you get the option of changing the program and if so, have you the right program running.
5. Have you called your tuner?

I can see it coming TBA = Throttle Boday Alignment. Use this to help yah do a TBA.
When you install a new chip, ECU or throttle body, the ecu needs to re-calibrate the Throttle Body so that it is controlled accurately. This will also put the chip in it's most agressive "mode" in which it hasn't yet learned the characteristics of your car. The procedure is as follows:
1) Unplug the two cables attached to the ECU box. Let it sit for a minute or so. If you have a new ECU skip this step and just follow the rest of the directions.
2) Plug the ECU back in and put the key in the ignition. Turn it to the point of starting it, but don't start it.
3) You should hear some noises in the engine bay, like a high pitched whine. This is the alignment and calibration of the Throttle Body by the ECU.
4) Let it sit for 3 minutes or until the whinning stops. It should take no longer than this, so if you can't anything you might just want to play it safe and wait it out.
5) Start the car and let it sit for a few minutes, but don't touch the gas pedal. You can finish up installing the ECU cover and everything else at this point. I'd wait 5 minutes to be safe.
6) That's it! Drive off and enjoy!
Also, do you have a boost gauge, if so what boost are you putting out? Did you upgrade the DV with a new one.

Sounds like you need a new BV... When you put the new chip in did you hear a hissing/whining sound comming from your throttle body when your key was on only in the ON position, but car not running??? You should have heard that, your throttle body re-adjusts for the changes, once the noise has stopped then turn the car on, make sure you get a check engine light, this is good....Otherwise you can screw up your car w/the new settings.
ok i have a gfb hybryd dv and air intake. i didnt know about the tb alignment so i will try this today. no i dont have a boost guage. also another question at what rpm would i feel the power anyways? should i feel it right away or at a higher rpm or in different gears
i got chipped with GIAC this morning, and it is by far subtle, it is the most significant change in any of the modifications any of me or my friends have done, even more so than changing an integra from non vtec to vtec...
ill tell you its nuts... theres gotta be something wrong.
