what is a snub mount

sorry to ask a question that im sure has been asked 1000 times, but i have absolutely no idea what it is or does. could someone please explain for me. thanks.

It's a big rubber bushing basically. It is mounted on the bottom part of motor and snub mount is on the bumper. If you replace it, it's suppose to reduce driveline sloppiness.
