Whats the difference????
 

Hi guys,

So now I am the proud owner of my new A4 and I am broke!!! I look at all the upgrades and quite frankly I need to save :-| So it turns out my 2001 A4 is rated at 150bhp.... seemingly this was also available at 170bhp about the same time... so now for the question can I some how get a cheap (and yes I know minor) upgrade in horses without buying lots of kit??? I cant afford new turbo's etc etc :-( Is going from 150 to 170 simply a matter of reprogramming the ECU???

Whilst I am at it are there any other small tinkerings I can do to tweak my machine that are low cost

You bet. Reprogramming the ECU is one of the most common upgrades for our factory-slow vehicles. Look at www.giacusa.com and at www.goapr.com These should give you a good idea of what you can do with just a little money.

Welcome! Don't hang around here too long, I did and I've been flat broke for almost 2 years! But yea either giac or apr work. These motors come very de-tuned from the factory

GIAC or APR will give you about 200 HP and lots of torque. Totally transforms the car. You will need to spring an additional 40 dollars for an upgraded diverter valve (710N) and you are all set.

Best upgrade money can buy.

the uk is a year ahead of us in MYs...they got the B5 in 95, and the B6 in 2001

Maybe ahead of you guys but you seem to get more bang for your buck!!!!!

Another Newbie question... If I remap the ECU and then for what ever reason the car has to go into Audi proper... 1. can they tell its been remapped and 2. will they put it back to the factory settings????
