I have a Hyperboost DV and all my lines seem solid. Maybe it is in my head but I remember the turbo responding much better when I didnt have the DV even though it surged a bit. Maybe I just got used to the power and think its slow. Ill probably try to document some stuff with a digital camera so you guys can tell me if Im crazy.

Also, is my boost gauge supposed to blow off pressure when you shift? It blows off directly behind the gauge.

I think my problem is this, and please correct me if I am wrong: the turbo is losing boost because its leaking like crazy. Under heavy acceleration, the turbo makes a really LOUD blowing noise like its blowing air on the ground rather than to the engine. Before I had the car chipped, I realize it went from boosting 5PSI to 15, everything sounded solid like the turbo was boosting air into the engine. As soon as I got mods, everything seems loose.

Driving the car hard I realize why I feel Im not getting the power I should be: When the car is boosting under light acceleration, around 5 PSI... the car starts to throw me to the back of my seat, like if I were to jam the pedal I would fly. As soon as I jam the pedal, that feeling goes away and the acceleration isnt as fast as I expected. I tried getting my 0-60 time entering the freeway and it feels like Im getting the same times I would have gotten with a stock A4.... the only difference is my car is loud. I feel 1st and 2nd are the strongest gears but 3rd, 4th, and 5th is where I lose it. 4th gear, 60mph... I floor it and my turbo spikes at 19PSI levels down to 15psi and drops slowly.

Tommorow, for sure... Im running this on the Dyno to troubleshoot these problems. I really do think there is a huge leak somewhere... it might even be the DV. All I know is my car is not as fast as it should be. Let me know what you guys think... tell me if Im crazy.

Actually, the boost gets terrible past 10psi... thats when it leaks the most. Me and my friend had a test; Saturn VS Audi. Guess who won on the freeway sadly enough... the saturn. This is going to the shop for sure tommorow.

make a pressure tester, and check for leaks.

go to home depot

get
a silicone/rubber coupler to fit over the intake port of the compressor housing.
Get a PVC cap to fit INSIDE the coupler you just bought
Get a valve stem

Building Procedure:

Drill a hole in the PVC cap big enough to pit the valve stem
Insert the valve stem and seal it

Put the PVC cap in the coupler and clamp it down.

Operating Procedure
Remove intake from turbo
Attach "pressure tester" and clamp it down

Attach some type of source to the valve stem to pressurize the intake tubes. (i use a regular air compressor)

Pressurize to about 15-20 lbs

Listen for leaks, they're easily noticeable with a hissing sound, also spray some soapy water over ever inch of the intake if you think you're missing something, it will bubble where there are leaks.

This is a >$10 tool that's extremely useful..

I can take some pics of the one I made for one of my older turbo projects if you's like.

Believe me this works very well and can save you a buttload of money in unneccassary diagnosing.

What's 10 bucks if you're about to spend 100+/hr on the dyno.

Sweet... but Im technically retarded so alot of what you said confuses me. I have a general idea but usually when I touch things on a car, the break. If this is the DV then I can get it fixed for free since they threw it on. Can you post a pic... that would be awesome... Im more of a visual person so it would really help. Thanks

As for the Saturn, theyre peppy cars and do well on the freeway... theyre just made of plastic. I have a funny story about one but Ill save that for another topic.

I was going to say that you were right about getting use to the power and it not being fast enough anymore. Because that happens even with 300+ HP.
A saturn should not EVER test to your modded A4. And you say you are boosting 15 PSI ?
You must have a leak in that case...

The reason why I chose the saturn is because its my "Loaner" car. In my family, if your car breaks down or needs to go to the shop... your taking the purple/pink/plum colored saturn until its fixed. I guess Im driving her tommorow.

The DV sits at the bottom of the engine compartment about 8" from the gorund; so, if it sounds like all your boost is being blown on the ground the connections at the DV are a likely suspect. So, check the connections to the DV to make sure they're tight. If everything is tight there, try putting your old DV back on. If you got the adjustable Hyperboost DV it may need to be adjusted. If none of this works start checking the rest of the compressor side of your intake for leaks like bhj0887 explained.
