Call me old fashioned, but we always used to have the same gap from the top of the tyre to the arch, regardless of the size of alloy. tyre circumference must be the same to retains accuracy on the speedo. So, the question is not will it need lowering, as it should be no different to what you have now, but aesthetically it may look a bit odd. IF it needed lowering before, it will need lowering afterwards, as the gap should be the same. It has little to do with the alloy size, IMHO...
heres 18's sitting on stock suspension it looks good IMO. i think that 17's look worse then 18s. 17's either have to big of tires, or if you get low pro tires it looks really goofy like your wheels are to small. i dont know i think if you have sport suspension your alright for all practical purposes, i suppose if you want a really agressive look you can lower it
You have sport wheels so you probably have sport suspension. 18's shouldn't look that bad with the sport package. IMHO those are great stock wheels (I've got em too).

mayb my car is already lowered bc it sits low on the 16's i dont even know haha... but it should look awsome wit 18's.
