Default winter+intercooler

Well boys...all my buddies called it. Wouldn't take long before i start pumpin' some coin into the Audi now. I bought the car for a DD, roadtrips, etc. and just wanted something nice & comfortable to cruise around in. But after a week or so now of reading the forums and talking to my mechanic Id like to start somewhere.

He's 100% race-driven, has on any given day between 5-10 extrremely modified skylines, supras or anything else that goes fast. He came out and looked at my motor...first words that came out of his mouth were Intercooler, Chip, Intake, Exhaust and you be verry happy! (60 year old Japanese guy )

So i'm not gonna ask what chip to use cuz theres probably 100 threads on which one is the best but ARE THERE ANY NEGATIVES TO DRIVING A CAR WITH AN INTERCOOLER IN THE WINTER??? <--- no im not yelling [8D]

Thanks,
-Trav.

what year is ur car, i dont see why there would be any negative things with having a FMIC in the snow, ur SMIC survives the winters

forsure i agree...DSM's & Scoobies run side/top mounts I just wanted to see IF there are guys that run them in the snow/cold weather and any precautions i should look out for. Obviously its not a good idea to start it up and rip the **** out of it when the motor is cold but i guess once its warmed up should be ok.

No problems with a FMIC in winter, however, you wont see much benefit of a FMIC unless you go to a bigger turbo.

Get a bigger turbo if you're getting an intercooler. If you know where to look, you can get a brand new K04 turbo and chip for less than $1400. Aftermarket intakes are worthless on Audis. You should also upgrade your diverter valve.

I've had may intercooler for 1 winter with no issues.

What year is your car?

sweeeet! thanks guys, thats the kind of feedback i like to hear

So WTF, no gains from an intercooler? My buddy's SR20 (Nissan) gained just under 30hp from an intercooler...i know its quite a different motor/setup but still [:-]

anyways, thanks again.

the only bad thing that can happen is gettin condensation in the IC and it freezing. whats the likely hood? next to zero. with snow on a IC only equals lower IATs which is freakin awsome only if u could get the gains to the ground with snow on it lol
