Xenon light upgrade for A4 B6
I just bought an A4 2006 B6 that didn't come with Xenon lights. Can I buy a pair of BI-XENON lights and install them into my car? I was told that since my car was not made for Bi-Xenon lights, this may not work. Any info on this>?
#1 if you have an 06 then its a b7 - Bi-xenon lights use one bulb for both high and low beam. How they do this is, it has a motor on the back that raises and lowers the bulb depending on what you have it on(hi/lo). You currently have halogen bulbs that function as high and low(two seperate bulbs) and with no motor on the back. Basically you could do it (don't ask me how) but it would be stupid expensive. My suggestion would be to purchase an HID conversion kit from VVME.com either 4300k for a stock look or 6000k for a little blue tint. And install them in your low beams only. If you've got your heart set on using HID's as your brights then order two kits and install one in the low side and one in the high side.
HID's are very nice but you have to know what to look for! Like stated above the Bi-Xenon has a built in relay / motor that switches back and forth when hitting your high beams if your headlight has only 1 projector or I should say 1 outlet for a bulb. They're measured in Kelvin "K" the higher the # the more of a purple tent you get the lower the more blue to white you get. A very popular rating to go with is in the 4K range. You will have a lot of direct light that is very condensed not scattered! I would also recommend the brand of Philips HID's as they have been the leading brand for many years and you cant go wrong! Let me know if I can help.
