Why is it that people say that when buying a '00 A4 the 1.8 is better than the 2.8? 2.8 has more HP so shouldn't that be the way to go?

I'm pushing about 400hp on 1.8T engine

better is not the right term, the 1.8t is lighter and yes it has the turbo so its more desired because of its upgradable the 2.8 on the other hand is a cruiser and much better at it than the screaming 1.8t so it depends what comforts and toys your looking for so to answer your question you need to think (is it speed which both have or speed with silence 2.8 or a o to 60 response then 1.8t) me personally would go for the 2.8

With the 2871R turbo, he's not that far off. 350 HP at least.

Gettin pretty lippy there for a n00b , he didnt say exactly 400 , he said about (besides you dont know what he has anyways), and if you would have searched then you would have had your answer. This is the most asked question on this forum and everyone is starting to get tired of noobs that dont know how to work the search function.

~400 chp, dynoed at 295whp or something like that, but he used a dyno dynamics so its really not at the wheels at the brakes :D

Ough yea the 2.8 sucks for modding. Most people buy it thinking wow its a bigger engine its got more potential, worng! Mods are very limited and dont give much hp unless you get the 30v and spend 5k to supercharge it. But even still your limited with that engine.
