Year to buy used car?

I'm looking at 2001's but what year do you guys recommend for a b5 1.8t qm? The car will eventually be modded with apr stage 3+
Does the 01 have less problems then the 99-2000?

RE: Year to buy used car?

I think that 01 is good for the giac x chip.. I think youd want an older (pre98.5 i think) that has drive by cable for better chip tuning.
Audi updated the timing belt tensioner in 2000, so ifyou get an older one you would want to make sure it has been updated, coil packs were updated in 2000 as well i think. Other than that and the DBW/DBC they are about the same other than minor consmetic stuff.

bmw???????haha LMAO..... if you are planning on modding, get a 99.5 or earlier cause they are very easy to upgrade. 99.5 has same body and interior as 2000 and up

DBW means that the throtle is controled by an electric wire and there is a sensor that gauges how far down the gas pedal is pushed, and tells the ecu to give the engine the according amount of fuel.. DBC means that the throtle is controled and directly connected by a steel cable that runs from your gas pedal to the throtle body where you can rev the engine from under the hood.. With DBW you cant do that.
