Sorry for such a simple question. I've looked and can't find the answer (and haven't yet asked a dealer).

I currently have a 2005 A4 Cabriolet and am curious as to what the difference between the A4 and A5 is (since the convertible is now an A5). I did a quick glance at the dealership when my A4 was in for service (but this was early morning and before any salespeople were in) and can't see any real difference.

between a b6 a4 and an a5??

sit in one and report back. the interior is 500% different, as is the body styling and options list.
or my favorite option, build one on audis website and youll get a decent glance at what it has to offer

 

The A4 had a 3.2L V6 option, I believe the A5 only comes with a 4 cylinder. That's the main difference.

 

the a5's also come in 3.2 guise

 

I went to the Audi USA website, it shows no 3.2L option at all. Either the 2.0T for the A5 or 3.0T for the S5. Then I went to carsdirect.com, same thing, couldn't buy a V6 A5.

Is it called a different model, maybe ***? I just gave up on 4 cylinder motors. I have now have a i3, i5, i6 and v6, but no 4 cylinders.

 

oooh on the current year theres no v6 option.thats new to me. there was a 3.2l v6 from 07-10

 

I heard the same issue with the Q5? No more 3.2s? Yes the loss of the 3.2 in the A5 line seems absolutely silly to me. We got our 09 A4 3.2 when we did just because of that reason - no more 3.2L V6 in 2010! Although turbo 4 cylinders are fun for tuning, no more 4 poppers for us.

Just because a model is newer does not mean it is better.

 

One of the best improvements with the A5 ... the back seat is bigger.

 

Not 2010, last year seems to be 2009 for the V6 for the A4 and A5. My guess is that most people didn't want to pay the large price difference for a small increase in performance. Having had 4 banger MB's for a while, I really only wanted a V6 and it wasn't about power.

What's ironic is that MB and BMW stopped selling 4 bangers in the U.S. probably because people expect a larger motor from a premium brand. Even lower end cars like the Ford Mustang gave up on 4 bangers and made the V6 the entry level engine. Didn't Audi even go with a V8 for it's S4 and kept increasing the size of the V6 from 2.8 to 3.2. So it's huge mystery that they don't have a V6 option on the A5 which is a very cool looking car and worthy of the 3.2.

 

those are pretty much exactly my thoughts. there isnt a huge increase in power for the v6s, especially at the premium they come with. the a5 is definitely deserving of the v6 imo, but im willing to bet they dropped the v6 from most of the range to meet mileage average standards or something
