Homelink garage door opener
I recently purchased a 2018 Audi A5 and a Chamberlain B510 garage door opener with Homelink. After unsuccessfully trying to program the garage door opener in my A5 after following the directions in the owner's manual and the MMI, watching two YouTube videos, and speaking with Chamberlain and Homelink technical support, I learned that Audi issued a technical service bulletin on May 7, 2018 entitled "Garage door opener remote with 315MHz will not program to vehicle". The bulletin states that customer was unable to program their garage door opener and message displayed in MMI was "An error occurred during programming. Would you like to try again?" Apparently, the side assist lane change control modules in the 2018 A5 interfere with programming the garage door opener and prevent it from linking. The solution offered in the bulletin was to: 1) disable the side assist lane change control modules by removing the 5-Amp fuse SF4, 2) program the garage door opener and 3) then reinstall the fuse. The bulletin shows which fuse to remove, which is very easy to do through a port on the driver's side in the trunk. I followed the bulletin's solution and the garage door opener linked the first time I tried. Hopefully, this will help someone else who might be having the same problem I did.
