Repair, trade in, or just wait ?
Hello,
took my 2010 A5 to the shop for transmission service.
I was advised afterward that year/model had known parts which suffered from premature failure (confirmed by my own web research), and to replace them as a preventive measure would cost
$4K. the bluebook value of the car is $13K. the rest of the car looks pretty good.
the parts at issue:
1)PCV
2)timing chain tensioner-which, in an interference engine, would do massive damage
3) diverter valve- it has a diaphragm that rips causing an underboost code
4) wastegate linkage
would spending $4k be pouring good money after bad?
trade it in for a 2018 A5?
just wait till it breaks? saving a lot on taxes and insurance...
