I have an exhaust rattle on my A6 I know the cat converters are notorious for going out and makin alot of noise. If it is the cat converter(im not even 100 percent sure if it is and I know there are 2 on the car) do I have any other options besides just replacing them or is it possible to rip them off and run new exhaust down to the muffler or straight pipe it. Im sure I would get a check engine light from the 02 sensors but are there any other problems I might encounter by now replacing the cat???

 

I have both front cats removed and replaced with straight pipes. I have a constant CEL but no other problems.

 

I have thought about doing that but my main concern and you can clear this up. This A6 is my daily driver with straight pipes I know I would love the sound but is it too loud to have all the time. any problems with cops???gas mileage after the cats were taken off??
