OK this is probably a really dumb question however today when i starte my a6 4.2 i got a message saying "Brake Light" on the screen, so I figured that this meant one of my brake lights was out however everything seemed to be functioning so i was wondering if there is another meaning for this message. Did you get out of the car and check the operation of the brake lights ? don't forget the center light!

 

it could mean the resistance of one of your lights has changed, i.e. getting ready to fail.

 

thanks for the replies however i found the problem, the bulb was kinda faulting out flickering on and off so when i went to look at them the first time it seemed liek all was well than, after i put up this thread because i went to check again and sure eanough the bulb finally went.
