Default '01 vs '03 4.2 A6

I love my 2001 4.2 w/sport package but it is approaching 110,000 miles and I am concerned about possible future issues, although it looks and runs great now. I can get an '03 (no sport package)with less than 50,000 miles for ~$17,500 out the door. Kelly Blue Book private party sale has my car at 12,500 to 13,500 (I wish), I am thinking 9500 to $10K. So for roughly $8000 I can have a 2 year newer car with less than half the miles.

The problem is I like driving my car better. Wheels, tires and a drop would improve the looks of the '03 but I'll miss my sport seats.

I drive ~17,000miles a year, so in 3 years my '01 will have 158,000 while the '03 will have 100,000 miles. The '03 will require a TB service but my car is probably good to 160k.

Has there been any significant improvements in the A6 4.2 between the '01 and '03 model years? Would I be happier putting the same $8k in my car instead of trading out?
