Hey all... just picked my first Audi up 3 months ago. Having some problems and looking for some answers because the two shops I've been going to don't really know...

When I start up 80% of the time it idles rough and I get a blinking check engine light. The shops say that it is an ignition error and they think it is firing out of sequence... but that may just be some **** they said off the cuff....

All I have to do is turn it off andstartit right backup and it ususally runs great after....

I've had the plugs replaced....

Mechanics aren't sure what the issue is and want to just start replacing everything..... F that.

Any help would be really appreciated.....

could be a faulty coil pack but that's just a guess, I could do better if you knew the fault code and a little information on what car it is?

edit: silly me : 02 A6 4.2L Startup Ignition Issue

 

Sorry.... don't have the codes... I'll ask next time I take it in.... Here's the car info:

2002 A6 4.2 Quattro, Sport package, Premium, Winter, etc.....


Also... I've got an leak on my oil cooler... The dealership is quoting $1200 and saying it's a 10 hour job due to the V8 being in an A6. The other shop I have taken it to won't give me a quote over the phone. What's your take.....
