1995 A6 Quattro can you elininate the rear ABS Sensors ?

Have had this 95-A6 Quattro forever and its pretty much original. Once again it has sat in the corner of the shop for 2 or 3 years forgotten.
I have to replace the rear wheel bearings and have disassembled it except for the ABS Sensors which operate fine. I do not have the wheel bearing tools to do it on the car.
I know these sensors can't be reinstalled so i guess my only option is to disconnect the wiring harness from the ABS PC inside the car.
I have no intentions of selling this thing but replacing the sensors at $200 each is not really in the budget. I also think it will be a pita to remove them when they eventually go..
Do the rear ABS relay support any other operations like power transfer between axles or speedometer? This A6 is a stick also..
Thanks and its good to be back
Cheers
RB
