1999 A6 - BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT
The change brake pads light came on (o) and I am going to change the brake pads for the first time. I am use to doing it on American cars (open master cylander cap to allow fluid expansion, use c-clamp, etc) but I never worked on an Audi. Are their and trick, sensors I have to be aware of or special tools needed for the job. Any web sites around with procedures?. I was told by the parts store the front pads are $72.50, is this about right?
Please advise

the front pads are pretty much the same, just make sure you have a good set of allen wrenches, as the set i had didnt have the right size that i needed.........and you'll see my post somewhere in here about the back brakes, apparently they screw back in instead of just pushing back in.
as for prices.......make sure you get the right parts. i went to the local parts store 3 different times and got the wrong part 3 different times before finally breaking down and buying the pads from the stealer. they all look the same, but you have to make sure the electrical connector has the correct plug. from the parts store the prices ranged from 50-75 bucks, but they were all the wrong parts. the dealer obviously screwed me and i ended up paying likje 135 though......[:@]
