2.7T No Start, Click-Click
 

This morning Audi wouldn't start. Turn the key & just get a click from engine compartment. Electric power seems good, & I even tried jumping with my truck. Showed ~14 V on cluster gauge, still only a click. Don't even hear starter turning. I haven't checked my Bentley yet to see what diagnostic to do. I figure once I get it in the garage, we'll at least pinpoint where the click is coming from. I suspect starter solinoid is the clicker, but starters not spinning.
Starter is located behind alternator, right? I rebuilt his alternator ~6 months ago, so I've been that far before.

For those that know, do I need to pull alternator to get starter out? Any pointers on what to check before diving this deep?

Did you ever resolve this issue? My 2001 audi a6 2.7t is doing the same thing. It ran fine this morning, came home for lunch and it wouldn't start. Nothing, nada. Battery shows at about 13. everything works. It just wont turn over...Any ideas please help..

Our problem turned out to be a bad starter. It's a pain to get to it. Put car in service position & had to then remove alternator to get to the starter buried on PS of engine.
