Default 2.7t pucking oil with heavy smoke

I had a strange occurrence this winter with my 2000 MTM 2.7t it was one of the coldest days of the year my wife took off for work and drove about 1 1/2 miles when the car began smoking and running rough. she turned around drove home and there was a good sized puddle of oil under the left front. I have had no problems with this car since i bought it with 58000 miles it now has 140000. The only place i found where that much oil could come from is the turbo pipe on the intake side. I could not find any oil leaks.

I have put several thousand miles on the car since and have had no problems. I just cant figure out what froze and caused what to happen to get oil to enter the turbo system .
was this a seal or could the turbo run backwards and pull some of the oil out of the pressure side. Just trying to figure out what happened, I guess it could have something to do with the pcv system or the combi valve also, any ideas.

Do a search on pcv. I think I read about a condition where it can freeze shut and the pressure forces oil out. The fact the your engine is running fine now points to it. There is no way the turbo can run backwards. Like certain models of Deloreans, that would throw you backwards in time.
