2.8 Performance List

I'm looking for performance information dedicated to the A6 2.8. I looked around and the best I could find was some general information on a sticky in the A4 B5 forum.

I know that the 2.8 isn't the best engine for getting high performance out of it, but I'm still interested in what kind of mods are out there, and not just more power, but information on suspensions and such as well.

I'm thinking about getting a PES G2, but I'm interested in what other things can be done to the car. Is there a good single source for this information on the 2.8?

G2 is the holy grail of 2.8 performance mod. Other than that, you have a few things you can do.

Performance Mod

1. ECU mod: about 10 HP upgrade for approximately $450. Not worth it in my opinion.
2. Intake mod: drill some holes on the bottom of air box for more air intake. Some people swear by it. I haven't done it.

Suspension
1. Lowering springs and shocks: Either Koni yellow, Koni FSD, or Bilstein Heavy Duty shocks with either Eibach or H&R springs.
2. Coilovers: More expansive option.

That is pretty much it. If you really want performance, then I say sell your car and pickup something different. Yeah... I am jaded.

What about:
  1. Exhuast
  2. MAF
  3. Cold Air (I did the drill holes in the box thing, it helped a little)
  4. Tiptronic chip
  5. sway bars
  6. lighter pulleys on the engine
  7. cams
  8. heads
  9. Port & Polish anything?

Just a few things off the top of my head that are possibilities, but I'm not sure if they make sense. Maybe Audi put a really nice free flowing exhaust on our cars and a different one doesn't help. Looking for advice on these items or others, and what helps, and what doesn't help.
