2.8 V5 - crank lock pin lcoation - different pin than 2V or 1.8T?

Where to insert the crank lock pin on the 2.8 5V and the 2.7T? I managed to find the spot on the 1.8T AEB and the 2.8 2V, but somehow can't figure it out on the 2.8 5V.

I took the crank shaft sensor (possibly also called speed sensor or so) out but my pin is too long.

There is a blind cap (further forward, also on driver side of the engine) also held in place by the 10mm socket bolt (blind cap with O ring only; not sure what it is for).

Or do I have the wrong PIN? Are they different from 2V to 5V?

it was really hard for me to find it at first but yes, you should be able to get a small 10mm wrench on it, its black and oddly shaped once you've got it out. you may have to remove a 13mm nut to release the bracket that holds some wires in the way so you can fit your hand in there. if the car is up on jack stands you should be able to sit directly in front of the driver side timing cover and look straight into the little gap that its in.

V6 crank lock pin is located above and to the rear of the oil drain plug. Here is a pic.

That's the crank position (or speed) sensor. My pin does not fit in there. Too long (the nose), thread won't reach it.

Wrong pin (could be I have the pin for the 2.8V6 2V?)

Crank sensor, right? Tried, pin didn't fit in there. Can see the 'timing' holes in the flywheel through that hole (mine are square holes - 2.8 V5).

2.8 30V crank pin lock

Bump-
I'm in the middle of a timing belt change on my 2000 A6 2.8 30V. I can see the roundish cover with the 10mm bolt that covers the crank pin lock hole, but it's over the frame member, and I can't get my hand any where near it. Do you have to remove the AC compressor to get at the damn thing, or is there some other way to get in there?

Thanks,
Keen
