Default 2000 2.7T no start condition

Okay, fellas - wife's been driving the Audi daily and suddenly one day it failed to start. It will turn over and seem to catch, but dies after a second or two without settling into a regular idle. I know the fuel pump is a not-infrequent failure item, but I'd like to rule out the fuel pump relay before I set about replacing the pump. I got into the plenum housing the ECU and found a relay numbered "443 951 253" as well as a 40-amp fuse which turned out to be blown. Replacing the fuse yielded no change; is the referenced relay the fuel pump relay? If not, where do I find it?

After I rule out the relay, I'll get into the fuel pump bay and test the pump - all guidance and advice is appreciate in advance!

Here's another thought: could it be the immobilizer? It actually IS behaving in the same way that my trucks do when you attempt to start them without using one of the Secure Keys. Thanks again for your help!

The immobolizer won't allow it to "catch" at all, so I would rule that out. Did the 40 amp fuse blow again after you replaced it?

I haven't been home long enough to troubleshoot it since then, Bob, but I don't think the fuse blew after I replaced it. I'll as my father-in-law to double-check it and get back to you on it.

Meanwhile - any responses on where I'll find the fuel pump relay?

I'd check to see if you have power at the pump. I'll bet it's burned out.

Looks like an immo fault:

The immo catches for 2 sec then cuts off.

I'd start there!

My 04 3.0 has the fuel pump relay on the micro central relay panel behind the storage on the drivers side. This panel has 6 relays on it. The fuel pump relay is J17, 4th from the left.
