2000 2.8Q hard shift 1st to 2nd

So I recentley bought a 2000 A6 2.8Q, love the car but it has a issue with the transmission I think. When I accelerate it has trouble from 1st to 2nd gear, almost feels like a clunk or a hard shift. Drives great but for some reason just has a hard shift when getting out of first gear. Even does it in manual mode and when slowing down from 2nd to 1st gear same thing. I have heard that this is an ECU issue or low on trans fluid or even a valve body issue. Previous owner just had fluid changed so its not that. It will cost me $120 for a diagnosis from an audi dealer, wondering if anyone has had or may know what could be causing this before I go waste money on an audi tech. I dont want to have it fixed there if I dont need it to be, due to the cost. Any advice would be appreciated. Thankyou for you time.

Could be a few things.

It would be a good idea to start by pulling your codes with a Vag-Com and topping off the fluid level. Also listen to your trany is it making any noise whining etc...

Your transmission has shift points based on throttle response I would go straight to the throttle position sensor and test it and clean it. I have had hard shift and erratic shifts due to this problem.

Next could be a TCM problem have you had any water on the passenger floor. The TCM is located there.

My 1st instinct would be electrical and a faulty sensor or wire.
