2000 A6 4.2 - rear window motor pin out

Lost rear driver side window motor yesterday without warning.
Took motor out. Connector has 2 fat wires, which I assume are the 'power' leads.

Should putting +/- 12V on those 2 wires turn the motor?

Other diagnostic suggestions I can do to the motor itself?
