Default 2000 STEREO SAFE MODE/KEYLESS ENTRY

Hi guys, i got a 2000 4.2 A6 and i have the following problems:

1)the battery was d/c so the stereo is in safe mode. I've checked the underwheel but no code, and lost the manual. stealership wants 120 bucks what can i do to avoid this charge?

2) my keyless remote batt is dead, is there any way to change this to avoid the stealership? (i dont want to mess it up)

3) i cant figure out how to set the time (it went out when the batt was d/c)

thanks a lot, this site kicks @ss, i wish i knew about it before!

1. At most it should only be around 60 bucks. Unless the code sticker is still on top of the radio, which can be verifyed by removing the radio, youll have to go to the deal.
2. The battery is easy to change. You just need a small screwdriver. Between the key part and the remote part there is a small indentation. Its around the center of the remote on the side oposite remote buttons. Put the screwdriver in there and pry out gently. Then pull the key and remote apart. Once you have the remote seperated from the key you will see a seam that the remote is connected at. Just pull it apart with your fingers. The side with the buttons is one part. The blank side is the other. The battery is round, just pry it out with the screwdriver or a paper clip. Snap it all together and your done. Youll probably have to program the remote too but thats easy. Quite a few writeups on the diff ways to do that here.
3. Pull the **** on the left of the cluster. This will cause the part of the time you are adjusting to flash. Turn **** one direction or the other to change the numbers.
