Hi,
I just bought a 2001 A6 2.7 turbo with about 65k miles on it. The seller explained that sometimes when the air conditioning is on, the engine starts shaking/wobbling and that all I need is to replace "the belt".

Surely enough, after driving the car for a while with air con on, the problem appeared and it stops when I switch off the air con again.

I live in Hawaii and driving without air con is impossible here. My "local" mechanic is telling me it's not the belt that the belt still looks good.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

(he also hooked up the A6 to his computer and told me two O2 sensors need replacing, and we already replaced the coolant and put in a new coolant liquid as the coolant was cracked and was letting oil into the system.)

look @ the engine mounts

 

not likely. have the mechanic look at compressor, it may need to be replaced and that aint cheap
