2001 Audi A6 2.7Turbo
Hi
My friend is looking to buy 2001 A6 2.7 turbo. It has 110000 miles on it.
Asking price is about $2000.00
How is the car in general? any major problems with 2001 model?
Any help will be great.
Thank you very much

If the asking price is 2000, or for that matter anything below 9000 (11000 in my area), then your friend is getting a lemon and will likely hate himself down the repair road.
Audi are some of the most expensive luxury cars when it comes to repairs, don't let people here tell you otherwise, it is just a fact. The A8 in particular is the most expensive to maintain per year out of all luxury cars in the market as of 2008.
It isn't a point of how reliable Audi's are, it is simply how specialized the work is, average maintenance cost per year is over a 1000.
These cars are not for people who are either unable to do their own repairs/maintenance, or can't afford to pay others to do said repairs/maintenance.

If the asking price is $2000 I would buy it. Even if it is a lemon you can sell those parts very fast and for top dollar. You will make all your money back on the drivetrain. I assume that at this price there is more than one major thing wrong with it though.

On a serious note, if he is really considering this as an everyday vehicle, he ought to bring it to an indie mechanic and have it checked out, even if it costs $100. Maybe he's getting the bargain of the century - the A6 is a great car. But if not, he could be in for $000s in repair costs. Turbos, torque converters, and suspensions ain't cheap for these.
