you would notice the turbos going bad more gradually than all of a sudden. A little but of oil in the intake is normal for those. i would have an audi specialist look at it. Sounds like the car isnt getting enough fuel to me but i cant be sure without seeing it.

A small amount of oil in the lower intercooler piping and intake tract is quite normal. Our PCV system allows alot of crap to recirc into the y-pipe. Turbos do not give much warning when they are failing. What I mean is they can boost good in the morning and fail in the afternoon. Some people get the dentist drill or wooo woooo sounds, mne just blew, no warning. I dont know how much oil your guy found, if its a pint, that's bad. If it's a tablespoon, thats normal. Do you have a VAG-com. I would try logging actual vs requested boost, just to get a baseline. Dont go replacing turbos on one guys word. If you dont have a VAG-com, see if anyone local does, the Audi community is usually willing to help out

I've had a hard time believing my turbos could fail at the exact same time. I'm moving to CO on Friday, so I'll get a diagnostic done there. I really do appreciate the help guys.

Seems odd (to me) that someone would think that oil in the INPUT would indicate a bad turbo... I would believe oil DOWNSTREAM of the turbos. (But I may not know anything....)

But I do know: Anyone who owns an Audi*, who can not (or just doesn't want to) pay the dealer to maintain it, should have access to a VAG-Com. It just saves to much money to not have! *At least one that uses the system.

So I've been researching like mad to match my symptoms with bad turbo seals. Some things aren't adding up. Rough idle on first start, hard starting when warm, oil in exhaust but not a hint of smoke or smell. If it indeed was a bad PCV system, could that damage my turbos?

UPDATE: Volkswagen A&B Import in Fort Collins, CO have been helping me with this issue. They determined that the MAF is good, boost is good, no fuel problems, no oil leaks and exhaust checks out. What they DID find was one injector seal shot to hell (having them replace all six) and one diverter valve also gone. PCV system was good other than some oil issues from blow by. Will let you know if she runs good after this.

Thanks for keeping this thread updated. I always hate it when the OP never posts the final resolution to their problem, which makes it pretty much useless to the next guy who has similar symptoms. I'm surprised the injector seal being shot wouldn't throw a code or even leak. Glad to hear it was something pretty straight forward.

Well, the total bill for 12 Injector seals, a new diverter valve, an oil change and the labor came to $680. She's definitely got more pep now, big change. Cept' now one of my fans is dead and the one in front of the radiator is working overtime to compensate. Sounds like a jet engine spooling up. Neat.

I had the same jet engine sound with the radiator fan, changed the fan clutch and no more jet.

Well, the sound is coming from the Aux fan. It's pulling double duty to maintain air flow for the radiator. Mechanic said the fan itself is dead, so oorah for another 4 hundo to fix it. Anyone else let their cars treat them badly because they love them?
