does anyone know how much quarts of oil the 4.2 engines need? i am getting a different answer from everyone, and would mobil 1 be the best? thanks...

 

I just had my 4.2 oil change..it uses around 7.5 Quarts and i use Redline oil

 

I think the 4.2 has a 8 qt capacity. You might want to get 9quarts just in case. If you don't use it you can always keep a quart in the trunk for emergencys. The car will burn a quart anyway in 3000 miles.

M1- 0w40 is the best. It is also the most preferred in bob is the oil guy forums.

If you need something on a budget use shell rotella t6 5w-40

i usually buy 2 of the 5 qt. containers, motul. and 1 qt every 3k miles is not normal. at 5k i'm at most 1/2 qt. down.

 

Are you kidding me?? Audi specifically says anything within 1qt every 1000 miles is normal. Go ask in bob is the oil guy. It may be the type of oil you use but with m1 0w40 1 quart vanishes every 3k.
