2002 Audi A6 3.0 need help with problems
Hi everyone,
I have a 2002 Audi A6 3.0 CVT with 80,000 miles. I have had the car for 2 years now and have always had a few problems with it that have never been figured out by any of the shops and dealerships that I have taken it to. Problem 1: Steering wheel shakes hard starting at 55 all the way to 70 and calms back down. Also shakes under hard breaking. It did this with the wheels that I bought the car with, so I got new wheels on the car and still have the problem. Have had the wheels balanced many MANY times with no success. Problem 2: Loud popping/crackling noise coming from steering when turned either direction. I have replaced the CV axles 2 times because the boots have failed 2 times and the problem has never gone away. Seems to be worst when first starting to drive car. Have also replaced all of the motor mounts as well. Problem 3: (More recent problem) I am noticing a burning smell coming from the engine area ever since I had my oil changed a couple 100 miles ago. Problem 4: (Also more recent problem) The last couple weeks when starting car in the morning it jumps up to 1400 rpm like normal then quickly down to 700 rpm then back up to 1300 rpm then back down to 700 rpm and then acts normal. Thanks so much for any of your help it would be greatly appreciated, Nick |
The vibrations could mean u need an alignment
The vibration under braking could mean warped rotors the poping sound when you turn sound to me like you need new control arms The burning smell is okay if an oil change was done. Some excess gets on the exhaust and burns off. But also if it persists check your valve cover gaskets. |
1. brakes/alignment
2. be more specific, is the sound inside the car or outside. 3. messy oil change or cam seals 4. sticky throttle body would be my guess. |
1. brakes rotors/alignment/tire balance/ control arms
2. be more specific, is the sound inside the car or outside. The steering could be the control arms, they also make a ripping sound when they are bad and you turn the wheel. so that may be your noise. 3. messy oil change or cam seals, Or they overfilled it and blew out all of your seals. Try opening the hood and having a look. 4.Broken vacuum line Have the same car The shaking will go away after you replace the control arms, get a good alignment and road force balance the tires and new rotors. Or you can move to NY, ever since I did I don't notice the shakes! These roads suck! |
what is the blinking lit up picture of like an oil funnel can in center of dash behind steering wheel/// maybe needs oil change or low on oil THANKS
|
It's low on oil. Definitely check and make sure you are topped off.
