Default 2004 A6 code P1624

Hello,

I have 04 A6 with 76K miles on it. recently, check engine light came on. I have one code scaner, but could not pull out any code. AAMCO pulled a P1624 code. They diagnosed it and said it's bad transmission control module (CVT transmission). They suggested me go to dealer. Costs from dealer is around $1k for parts and programming (I plan to replace the module by myself). What I found is that this module can be rebuilt by "bba-reman" for $500 plus shipping (do not need programming which is costs $170). They provide life-time warranty.

Here is the link

http://www.bba-reman.com/content.asp...di-A4-2004-TCM

I was told this control module problem is pretty common by bba-reman.

Question 1: Are there any people here have similar problem?

Question 2: Did anyone rebuilt this type module? bba-reman told me it has both mechanical and electrical problems. Please provide details if you know how to fix it.

Question 3: please recomend a code reader for my Audi A6. As I know many code readers do not work with Audi.

Thankssssss.
