2005 A6 help requested

I got a 2005 A6 in California,USA.
I have 2 phone HTC 8525 and Motorola Razr.
I can connect the 2 phones via bluetooth but cannot download the phone book. The options are greyed out in the car. Any solution?

I need to replace the black plastic (most likely a engine fender or splash guard) below the engine. What is the name of the part and where can I order it?

I am guessing that you are not the original owner. The original MMI software had many bugs, including some customers, mostly Verizon users, from being unable to download their phonebooks. If the car is still under warranty Audi will upgrade the MMI for free if you complain about the surround sound intermitenly losing its setting when the car sits for a day or two. You can also complain about a jumping cursor and get a free upgrade. However, if you are out of warranty, or simply say you want to upgrade the MMI software, then you will pay for the upgrade.

2nd the above reply regarding the MMI software. I recently purchased a 2005 model, and it had version 7.5 MMI software, with the same problems you report. I purchased the CDs and did the update myself, but I have a VAG-COM to reset codes, etc.

With regards to the splash shields, again this was a problem I had as well. I ordered a new one from genuinevwaudiparts.com..which had the best prices.

this is alink to the part, it is under splash shield, under radiator support in the listing on the left (after you enter the model year and car model).

Hope this helps!

Thanks Kevin and danno6.
I am the second owner of thr vehicle. It has 46200 mile on it, so it is still under warranty.

Did you do the splash shield replacement yourself?

What is the value in getting the VAG-COM while the car is still under warranty?

I have got the manual for the car already.

Roy.

I did the splash guard myself...I was doing the 55k maintenance, and had the car up on ramps. Not difficult, other than the dirt dropping in my eyes

If it is still under warranty, not worth getting the vag-com, in my opinion. There are a couple of things you can do with it (enable the voice activation button on the steering wheel if you don't have that option, set the remote to open the windows), but it is around $350....

How to activate the Voice Activation Button

Hi Danno6,
How can you enable the voice activation button?
Do I have to buy extra components to use the functionality?

The used car dealer from whom I bought the car agreed to fix the splash guard for free if I buy it and take it to them.

From the audiworld forum...gives the instructions for enabling the voice activation. I tried it before I updated my MMI software and it didn't work...I haven't tried it since I completed the upgrade.

Unfortunately even if you activate the voice recognition it will not give you the voice tags. So you can't say "call home". The best you can do is say "number dial ... call 1-212-555-1234 ... dial."
