2006 A6 45k service
So my bumper to bumper warranty expired in Sept last year and now I have to pay for my 45k service because my car is our of warranty but at the same time I bought extended care package that includes 55k and 65k mile service. Do you guys think that I should be paying for 45k service?
Another question is that do I need anything else other then oil and filter change for 45k service? I looked at maintenance log and it only mentions top off fluids, oil and filter change and few other inspections. Big service is suppose to be the 55k mile service.
If I get my 45k done somewhere else, is that going to void my 55k and 65k service? I feel like if I ask Audi they'll give me same old retarted answer i.e. YES IT"LL BE VOID.
Thanks

Warranty and maintenance are two different things. My 03 included all maintenance up to 36 mos/40k miles (if memory serves me, it was a long time ago). But typical warranties cover repair work only, not normal maintenance. You should be able to have your oil changed anywhere and not void any warranty, as long as you stick to the recommended interval and oil. Keep your receipts.
Caveat: I'm no lawyer. But I bought a used A4 for my daughter and immediately had it serviced by my local indie. I brought it back for the coil pack recall to the dealer, and they happily replaced the catalytic converters under warranty. No issues due to my having the oil (and brakes) replaced elsewhere.
As far a you paying for the 45k service, you need to read the fine print in your extended car package. It seems strange that coverage would skip 45k but include 55k and 65k.
My 40k service was change oil/filter, dust/pollen filter, air filter, and spark plugs. 50k was just oil/filter. I change oil/filter approximately 8k miles but stretch plugs to 60k+ since use is mostly high speed highway. And I clean and re-oil the K&N annually.
