2006Audi, I understand about the Nav disc be too old. If i find a up to date one I'll post post it here. The only draw backs from our Nav, that is not compatible to have real time traffic and 3D maps. Only 3G MMI does.

S6 very nice. I see one online in IL a 2008 Audi S6 5.2 for $39,985 blk/blk with 45,425 miles. Also seen one online in LV a 2008 Audi S6 5.2 for $28,889 gry/blk with 58,786 miles. Got mine, out the door $17,400 with a extend warranty 100k 5yr drivetrain on top of 68k making for total of 168k. And think is that kelly bluebook value is at $28k.

About the maker no need anymore. Yesterday I removed my front bumper to take a look and while I was at it change all the light bulbs. What I learn is that the side maker wiring comes from the passagerside harness. And the headlamp washer comes from driverside. But thanks for willing to help.

Well have you checked your MMI Module behind the glove compartment?
If it looks like this below then you have the option for the camera.(the green clip is the video in put). If your unit doesn't have then you'll have to retrofit a unit for video like option 2. But if you do have it then option option 1 wil work your you.

Hope that helps.
Thanks again for willing to help me.

Eazy,

Ok, this is what I'm thinking. There are 2 interfaces that I'm thinking about. 1 is audio and 1 is video.

Video: AUDI MMI Video Multimedia Interface A6 A8 Q7 UK | eBay
Audio: AUDI MMI MOST iPod Aux In Adatper Interface A6 A8 Q7 | eBay

Now the Audio isn't an interface, but it is an Aux. input, this is the one I gave a link for earlier. I have been emailing the guy, he will give me the audio and video package for 200 euros or roughly $261 including shipping from London. On ebay they want $254 for the video and $160 for the audio separately including shipping. The video option would allow me to have 2 video inputs, 1 rear camera video input, and 1 RGB input for an external navigation system like this one Garmin GVN 53 Vehicle Audio Video GPS System 010-00495-12. It comes with a remote for inputing addresses and has an SD card for importing contacts and custom POI's. Of course it comes with all the garmin POI's already. The GPS is kind of pricey, but maybe could find something cheaper if I look around more or maybe something used.

What do you think?

Another question, can I avoid the video interface if I do have the rear camera input in my MMI? Or again, what about taking out my NAV unit? How can I use that? If I can use my rear camera input for video, will it let me use it how I want, meaning selectable? Can you see your rear camera view when your driving forward?

Sweet deal. Why didn't I think of that.

Aux interface downside if no audio info(but your fine with that just control it manually) and it won't charge your players. Just be careful with the optic cable you don't want to damage that(it's a headache to replace and pricey too).

Video interface sweet, Plug & Play. Downside No optical cable just RCA jack[(there has to but adapter for that) why I say that, optical cable automatically switches over when Video is active unlike RCA jack you manually have to switch].

This combo is sweet deal.

To the other Q. if you have the MMI interface with the RVC then you could go with option 1 in the previous posting.[(live tV, record tv, via USB)I seen some USB switches with HDMI, RGB,etc that can be added]. But it's pricey.

If you do have this MMI unit with RVC install a camera just make sure it CCD(the for daytime, nighttime, color and image).

Stick to the great deal you got just under $300 Sweet!

Let us know how it went. Take pictures in steps.

By the way you should get car tv tuner, just run the ant just above the rain sensor in the inside of windshield. One like this DVB-T Digital TV Receiver Tuner for Cars (MPEG-2) | eBay

Yah, I'm still up in the air about no direct interface. I have found some others besides the gateway that are cheaper, but not too sure about their performance. It's hard to justify $420 for just an ipod interface for just sound. I'm still looking for an original AMI for cheap, but not much yet. I really need to check if I have that rear camera input in my MMI. I'm confused on the Dension Gateway. It says it has a video out also, but you need the AVR accessory. But I check the compatibility and for the Audi A6 is says you must have the TV tuner to make it all work. So how come this other one can do it, but not the gateway?

That's pretty much what you have to do with any type of unit, nothing but add-ons.

You should start with Aux interface first. Figure out what exactly you want to get out of it.

The Video interface that's add-on for another time.(But I did figure out how to connect to the optical cable which is an extra cost of $60. You'll need a RCA in to Optic out adapter which has a 5v power. To solve that problem you'll need 12v to 5v converter. and that's it). Hey Eazy, hope all is well.

I found this unit on ebay. Thinking of making an offer. If you notice the P/N is missing the (F) letter on the end that you listed as possible units I could use. Even one of the pictures confirms that the P/N of this unit is 4E0035785 and not the 4E0035785F that you suggest. Do you know if this unit will work for me?

check out this thread I created during my quest to install the AMI:

https://www.audiforums.com/forum/aud...n-done-182076/

The AMI upgrade worked great, the hardest part for me was getting the CD changer out. You have to bend the tools upwards a bit. It look me almost 1 hour to get the damn tools to click in place and to pull out the unit.

The AMI unit I bought was for around $350 US from someone in the UK off eBay. Here is the listing that I bought from, you can contact him to see if he has any left:

Audi Music Interface New Genuine AMI Ipod Interface MP3 Complete Retro-Fit Kit | eBay

I also installed the bluetooth music adapter as well, it works great. I am very happy with it. I was thinking about putting the CD player in on the side but then I would have to cut the back of the glovebox which I really didnt want to get into. Plus now that it plays music from my iphone I really have no need for it.

Also check out this installation video, it helped (thanks to eazy211187 for this link and helping me with the install):
