Default 2001 A6 2.8 aux cooling fan issue

Hi all - first post.

I noticed my temp gauge climbing a notch above normal while idling w/ ac on the other day. Flushed and filled coolant today and noticed that my electric aux fan never came on. Checked the fuses under dash - all good. Fan spins freely by hand so, is it the temp sensor in the coolant hose? If so, looking for the preferred method for changing this bugger and best place to buy one.

Thanks.

Which fuses you checked, those located on the left side of the driver dash?

Yes, I took off the lower dash on the driver side and checked two fuses - one 40amp and another 50amp. Both looked good.
