Default 2010 A6 Check Engine Light - Torque Converter

Hello,

I recently bought a used 2001 Audi A6 2.7L AWD. I did a AAA-certified inspection on the car before I bought it and the only things that came up in that inspection were 1) some oil leaks 2) rear brake pads need to be fixed 3) CV boots need to be replaced.

About 2 weeks after I bought the car, the check-engine light came on once or twice at the same time as the engine oil pressure low lamp. I took it to the mechanic and got an oil change done. The oil level is now fine in the car.

However, I am now stuck with another problem: the engine light has come on, and wont go away. For the past 10 days, it's been on whenever the car is turned on.

We ran the error codes on the system, and here is what I got:

Motronic Fuel Injection and Ignition System ME 7
2 FAULTS DETECTED
17978 P1570 035
Control Module Locked
Sporadic fault

18032 P1624 035
MIL Request Signal, active

Automatic Transmission 01V
1 FAULT DETECTED
17125 P0741 035
Torque Converter Clutch Circ
Performance or Stuck Off
Sporadic

What do these codes mean? Is this a serious problem? The car has about 85600 miles on it. I dont understand cars very much, so a lay-man's explanation of the cause, effect and consequences is greatly appreciated. Is my car nearing its end? Can I expect the car to last another 10-15,000 miles?

Thank you all in advance for your help.

I had that transmision code come up and had to get a $3500 torque convertor job that took over a month for the dealership to do. Mine was done at about 75k on a 2000 2.7.

From what I have heard, this is a known problem with a lot of models that the torque converter goes bad in the transmission. I have a 2003 A6 and my check engine light came on at about 100,000 miles for this problem. I have not gotten it fixed yet and I drive with the light on, checking ever once in awhile (checking the codes) to make sure there is not another problem. My dad has the same car and same problem.

I know this is an expensive fix so I have not had this done yet. I have 143,000 miles now and am waiting to see what will happen.
