2011 AUDI A6 - C6 Unusual Oil Consumption

Hope someone can offer some advice with this little problem I have.

I drive a 2011 Audi A6 / C6 purchased brand new just about 2 years ago. The Oil Low warning light seems to come on after every 2000 kms or so, each time requiring a top up of about 1.5 to 2 litres of oil.

I took it to the Audi Dealership who proposed an oil consumption test. The test required topping up oil, then returning the car to the dealership at exactly 1000km. The test reported a consumption of 0.4 litres/1000Km which is considered normal. The service manual indicated oil consumption could be up to 0.5litres/1000km depending on driving conditions. I drive on average 1600KM/month on metro roads mostly with the occasional traffic.

Engine Size: 2.0 TFSI
Current Mileage: 41000KM (25,470 Miles)

I am told by Audi that oil level warning light will come on after 1 litre of oil has been consumed.

Is this normal? Having to top up every 7-8 weeks?
Is this indicative of a problem with the way the car consumes oil?
Why will the warning light be set to alert when the oil level is about 75%?

Thanks guys...
